Erik Buell Racing Is Back in Business

Here's hoping the third time is the charm for America's sportbike visionary.

From Road & Track

When Buell was shut down by Harley-Davidson back in 2009, we were sad to see the innovative American sportbike company go. Founder Erik Buell's dream got a new lease on life when it reappeared as Erik Buell Racing, but in April of 2015, the company filed for bankruptcy and closed down. Now, EBR is back again, having just begun production at its plant in East Troy, Wisconsin. And we're cautiously optimistic.

As reported by AutoEvolution, Erik Buell Racing was acquired by an investment firm called Liquid Asset Partners that claims to have the cash to turn EBR into a viable business again. It might actually work, too. Buell, the founder, has moved into the role of Chief Technical Officer, which should allow him to focus on his biggest strength-engineering impressive sportbikes with unconventional innovations. Other people are being brought in to handle the management and marketing aspects.
