14 women want to be the new Miss LSU; competition has interview, swimsuit, evening gown

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Fourteen young women are competing for the Miss LSU title this year. The pageant will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the LSU Student Union Theater.

According to the contestant registration packet, the event includes a personal interview, swimsuit, and evening gown portions that are scored. All five top finalists will have to answer the same on-stage question without hearing how the others answered.

Miss LSU gets a chance to participate in Miss Louisiana-USA, and if she wins that, Miss USA, according to 2024 Executive Director Kennah Corbello. Finally, they would compete for Miss Universe.

Ivy Robichaux won the title in 2023. “She is a Mass Communications major and plans to attend law school after graduation,” according to the news release. She will crown the winner of this year’s pageant, Corbello said.

Who can compete?

To be eligible, according to contest rules, a candidate must:

  • Be a full-time LSU student during the Spring 2024 semester.

  • Be 18 to 26 years old on Sunday, March 24.

  • Be a United States citizen.

  • Live in Louisiana.

  • Have good academic standing with at least a 2.25 GPA.

  • Be recognized as a female in the U.S., medically and legally.

Candidates also must have lived in Louisana for at least six months before the pageant or have attended LSU full-time for the Fall 2023 semester.

How to watch

Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office starting at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24.

If you can’t make it in person, a live stream will be available. Corbello said livestream tickets can be purchased through the Union Theatre at this link and a link to view the pageant will be sent via email 30 minutes before the show starts.

Pageant helps the community

The Delta Zeta sorority has been running the event since 1999. Organizers said, “Miss LSU is the largest philanthropic fundraiser on LSU’s campus.”

“All of the proceeds from the Miss LSU Pageant will be donated in support of Delta Zeta Sigma’s local and national philanthropy partners to support speech and hearing,” Corbello said.

Some of the partners who will benefit include the St. Lillian Academy, Emerge Center,
Starkey Hearing Foundation, American Society for Deaf Children, and
SeriousFUN Network, according to Corbello.
