If you're on TikTok regularly, chances are that you saw the story about the one-winged bumblebee that @Katharina rescued in July. She shared an update on Sunday, September 24th announcing that the sweet bumblebee, Sweet Pea, passed away.

Katharina was out on a walk in July, when she noticed a bumblebee walking on the ground. It started to follow her and hopped on her shoe. That's when she noticed that the bee only had one wing. So she took it home, and for the past 8 weeks has been providing it with food, water, and a place to live. Sweet Pea became like a pet, and we all enjoyed watching her thrive. Unfortunately, Sweet Pea didn't make it and of course, Katharina is devastated.

@Katharina's news actually made me sad! When I first heard about the bumblebee's rescue, I thought that Sweet Pea wouldn't last but maybe a few days. But Katharina brought her fresh flowers every day, and even had a little shelter for her. She shared an update at the beginning of September that Sweet Pea was doing well, and I was surprised and happy to hear it. When I thought about her yesterday and went to check Katharina's feed, that's when I learned that the cute little bee had passed away.

Commenters were just as heartbroken as I was. @Jennie said, "She has both her wings now. Thank you for caring for her. We will miss you, Sweet Pea." @Crystal Hennigan spoke for all of us, "Not 156k people all over the world crying now. We will miss you, Sweet Pea!" I loved @Cheryl Blackburn's suggestion, "You should write a children's book about Sweet Pea the Bumble Bee!"

Who knew that a bumblebee could bring so much joy to so many?! Sweet Pea is proof that it really is the little things in life that are actually the big things.
