Wildlife Photographer Breaks Down What It’s Really Like To Visit a Penguin Colony

We all might think "cute" and "adorable" when we think of penguins, but what if I told you they were also extremely noisy and stinky? @National Geographic TV posted a video on Saturday, November 11th of wildlife photographer Bertie Gregory visiting a penguin colony in Antarctica, and he has a lot to say about what it's like!

The video starts with Bertie saying that being there is "a complete assault on the senses". He explains that it's extremely noisy and that the penguins are stinky. He goes on to say that penguins collect rocks because it's so icy there that they use rocks to build their nests. They may smell, but they're cute to watch!

I love Bertie's videos because he gets to get so up close and personal with the coolest animals on the planet. @National Geographic TV shares a lot of his videos, and I always watch them all. One other thing that I know about penguins is that they collect rocks to give to each other as gifts of love...the rocks are like a token of affection!

There weren't many comments left, but there were some funny ones. @ATLesq shared, "I went to Antarctica 5 years ago. The smell of penguin poo still haunts my dreams. It’s so bad." and @Rebs Nels agreed, "No joke on the smell. Cute though". @Esther.In.Social made me laugh with, "Thanks for the transparency! LOL!!!" @Melika_hi wasn't wrong when she said, "This would be the trip of a lifetime!"

Sounds like I'll just have to continue to be a fan of penguins from afar. I believe Bertie on the smell, and it's a smell I never want to learn for myself!
