Video: Ben Gravy Surfs 'Perfect' Wave On Dangerously Sharp Reef

Ben Gravy, weird wave connoisseur and soft top extraordinaire, has found himself in a lot of sketchy scenarios.

He's surfed the Italian "cave of doom," survived his "heaviest wipeout ever," found himself in a "pickle" at bombing Waimea Bay, and endured the "scariest" wave he's ever surfed.

In his latest adventure, Gravy finds himself surfing over dry, razor-sharp reef.

Gravy's vlog above comes from his recent trip to an undisclosed island in the Caribbean.

Captioning it, he wrote:

"It's been an awesome week on the island trying to figure out how to what & how the swell affects every break that we've checked out.

"Today we came across a literal surfing dream scenario, a Perfect Wave Barrels Over Dry Reef, that happened to be breaking.

"Even in a situation like this, when the reef is shallow & sharp below, but the wave is so perfect that you have to see what you can do to make it happen! Thanks for all of the support FOR THE DREAM!!! - Ben"

The 20-minute episode opens with an overcast day and the waves smaller than they've been throughout Gravy's Caribbean trip.

But that's okay, he's up for the challenge.

"We just gotta do what we came here to do and go look at the waves," he says.

It pays off. He surfs, he scores, and according to Gravy, gets his "ass kicked."

One viewer could relate and shared some surf trip ideas:

"I also love to discover spots that no one usually rides. My best findings were probably in Rodrigues Island where I just paddled over to the reef barrier and had small waves on a really shallow reef and the left I found in Galle, Sri Lanka, with turtles to keep me company and the astonished locals looking at me riding alone.

"Oh also riding a 50cc bike along the coast in Da Nang, Vietnam to find the best spot a bit protected from the huge winter swell on that huge stretch of beach."
