Dog at Sacramento Shelter Spends All Day 'Looking for Someone to Come Meet Him'

Lucious is a friendly guy. Every day at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento County, California, he waits for a human to come over to him and say hello. Sadly, no one has greeted him. It's such a shame! Now the shelter is sharing Lucious' story, so that hopefully he will find a forever home.

Lucious is the sweetest little Pit Bull. But it's hard to see him watch all the other pets get picked over him.

Of course, there are so many animals that need a good home and so few people who can give them one. But for Lucious' sake we hope he gets adopted really soon.

"If you came to our animal shelter right now this is what you'd see," the video's text overlay reads. The clip shows Lucious starring out at the shelter's lobby from behind a glass door. He does this "all day" too.

"He has watched people ask to meet his neighbors, but when will it be his turn?" the texts states.

Lucious has mastered "sit" and "stay." So at this point he's pretty much ready to be the perfect pal to a loving family.

People in the comments section were pulling for Lucious. "Somebody take him home and love him. Sweet doggie," wrote one person. "What a sweet heart, I hope he finds his forever family," another commenter agreed. "Oh dear sweet puppy. I hope your day comes soon," a third person chimed in.

Things to Remember When Adopting a Shelter Pet

Lucious is just one of so many pets that need to be adopted. But there are a few things to keep in mind before heading to a shelter.

Make sure you are realistic about what kind of pet you want. That doesn't just mean dog or cat, but also relates to vibe and energy. If you are big into the outdoors and love to be active, a large dog with lots of energy would be a good fit.

Size is another factor to consider. If you live in a small space and are happier hanging in the house, a small dog is probably more your speed. This also brings up another important factor to think about: noise. Some dogs are just "chattier" than others. This might be fine if you live somewhere with lots of land, but those who live in an apartment might opt for a dog that is quieter.

How well an animal relates to children is not something to overlook. If you are looking for a family pet, make sure that the animal you're adopting has been cleared by the shelter of being child-friendly. Some breeds might be friendlier to kids than others, and typically a shelter can point you in the right direction.

Adopting an animal is such a huge milestone. But doing a little homework before taking the leap will ensure you're adopting your perfect match.
