Rover Releases the Top Pet Names Of 2023

One of the hardest decisions you can make after you adopt a new pet is what to name your fur baby. Do you name it after one of your favorite TV characters? A musician who is played on repeat on your Spotify playlist? After your great-great uncle who sort of resembles your new pup?

Well, pet sitting company Rover has released the list of top names for dogs and cats. It says most pet parents are "influenced by names that remind them of their favorite things or trending pop culture moments." Did your name make the list?

The most popular girl dog names include, 1: Luna, 2: Bella, 3: Daisy, 4: Lucy 5: Lily 6: Lola, 7: Zoe, 8: Sadie, 9: Stella and 10: Bailey.

For cats of both genders the names are 1: Luna, 2: Milo, 3: Oliver, 4:Leo, 5: Bella, 6: Charlie, 7: Lily, 8:  Kitty, 9: Lucy and 10: Loki. I love how number 8 was just , okay, whatever, it's a cat we will call it Kitty, LOL.

For male dogs the names are 1: Charlie, 2: Max, 3: Cooper, 4: Milo, 5: Buddy, 6: Teddy, 7: Rocky, 8: Bear, 9: Leo, 10: Duke.

I know someone who has a cat and a dog with two of the most popular names on these lists, and I can proudly say I have never named a pet any of these names. What my family tends to do is recycle names from previous pets which is how we have always had cats named Minka. I currently have a little lady cat named Elvis which makes zero sense but my granddaughter chose her name so what can ya do?

Will you take inspiration from these popular names the next time you adopt a dog or a cat?
