Dog's Transformation After Months of Not Being Adopted Is Absolutely Heartbreaking

You can tell she's losing hope.

Over at Adoption First Animal Rescue in North Carolina, one special, adoptable dog has been waiting for her forever home. Her name is Cider, and she's a stunning Shepherd girl who loves to play and get tons of attention. Unfortunately, though, her happy-go-lucky outlook is starting to change now that she's @adoptionfirstnc's most long-term resident.

The shelter staff shared a sad but important video showing the way this poor girl has transformed after waiting so long to be rescued. We can only hope that sharing her story will bring her one step closer to the happily ever after she deserves!

Oh, Cider! We would give anything to lift your spirits, though we know the shelter staff are doing their very best. @Liv_stranger_queen2 agrees, writing, "when I get older I’m saving all of them." We like where your head is at! Until that can happen, though, boosting videos like these by commenting and reposting can do more than you think.

"How old is she?" asked @cjhusband. "Me and my mom live in NC and would love to adopt her-- we just need some info." That's fantastic! Luckily, Cider's information is super easy to find. Just like the shelter replied: "If you go to our Linktree on our page, under ‘view adoptable pets’ scroll to cider, you can read all her info!" That same Linktree is where you can find an adoption application, too (hint, hint).

Though Cider isn't good with other dogs, according to her bio, the shelter would also "be willing to cat test." Just like they told @maggiemaeeeeeeee, "she’s never been around cats since she’s just in the rescue," but it might go great! We just hope someone gives this girl a chance.
