BJP says food security bill is smokescreen to hide corruption

The BJP alleged on Monday that the government was trying to push the food security bill to divert people's attention from misdeeds of its ministers. The CBI had arrested Vijay Singla, nephew of railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, for allegedly taking Rs. 90 lakh from senior railway official Mahesh Kumar through a middleman for a lucrative position in the Railway Board. In another major setback for the government, the CBI admitted in the Supreme Court on Monday that Law Minister Ashwani Kumar made changes in the coal scam report before it was submitted in the apex court. The Congress has ruled out resignation of Bansal and Kumar, leading to confrontation with the opposition parties.
