Selena Gomez clearly understands the importance of both comfort and couture, even if she has been known to fly in leather pants. She will pair pajamas with heels; she will rock sneakers with a fresh-from-fashion-week spaghetti-strap dress — and yes, we appreciate the stylish juxtapositions.
But she wasn’t out of place on the city streets. The recent Vogue covergirl paired the fitted yet flowy runway dress — which has a subtle pinstripe pattern and an asymmetrical hem — with white sneakers, round sunglasses, and a messy bun to dress it down. Which means you can actually afford parts of her ensemble — assuming you can find the styles, of course.
Gomez trotted around the Argentina town in a pair of white Converse Jack Purcell sneakers that retail for $65 — for now. If you want to duplicate Selena’s sneaker style for spring, you may want to act fast; Nike has already sold out of the unisex shoe. And clearly they’re a favorite of the singer, no matter the continent she’s on; she wore them on another date with the Weeknd last week in Toronto. (Because when Selena finds true sneaker love, she’s loyal.) Her round gold sunnies have made several appearances as well. The singer sported them (and one extremely on-trend gold choker) in Venice last month; earlier in the year, Gomez and her high-profile beau tried their hands at twinning in matching pairs.
The covetable boho-meets-Parisian-chic dress she wore the sneakers and sunnies with, however, will set you back a pretty penny. The black silk-blend Striped Shaper Dress from Isabel Marant retails for $1,174, making it a bit of a summer investment piece for those so inclined. Or, you can opt to simply copy the outfit’s elements, and grab a pair of classic sneakers to go with a favorite dress. Selena’s not alone in that practice; Katie Holmes is on board too. You’ll be in good — and comfortable — company.
