Where to get discounted MetroCards in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) — MTA riders who are 65 and older enrolling in the Reduced Fare program can now receive their new MetroCards on the same day from a Customer Service Center, the MTA announced on Monday.

The Reduced Fare program is also available to riders with qualifying disabilities. Station agents at Customer Service Centers will issue temporary Reduced-Fare cards while applications are processed.

Reduced-Fare MetroCards are valid for two years. Customers can reload the cards with either value or time.

The MetroCards will be available for pickup at the following Customer Service Centers:

What’s next for OMNY, the MTA’s tap-to-pay fare system

Riders with Reduced-Fare MetroCards get 50% off the following rides:

  • Local, limited, and Select Bus Service buses at all times of the day for eligible customers.

  • Express bus trips anytime except during weekday peak periods, 6 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

  • Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North rides, except weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m. if traveling in the direction of NYC terminals.

Riders in need of assistance can also visit the New York City Transit Customer Service Center located at 3 Stone St. in Lower Manhattan, apply via mail or online, or receive help from Mobile Vans.

All Reduced-Fare MetroCard customers will receive a Reduced-Fare OMNY card at a later date.
