Police search wooded area on Long Island in connection to Gilgo Beach murders: source

MANORVILLE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A police search took place in a wooded area of Manorville, Long Island. A PIX11 source confirmed it was in connection with the Gilgo Beach murders case.

Multiple NYPD cadaver dogs were spotted on the scene, combing through two areas off the Long Island Expressway with K9 units.

Suffolk police and state officials were also on the scene. The Suffolk District Attorney’s Office said it could not comment on an ongoing investigation.

A second location in a residential area was also searched. The partial remains of two Gilgo Beach victims were found in Manorville in 2000 and 2003. Rex Heuermann, the man charged with murdering three of the Gilgo victims, has not been accused in those deaths.
