Parsons High School seniors honored in academic signing ceremony

PARSONS, Kan. — Some seniors at Parsons High School were recognized for their post-high school plans, today.

A number of them signed a Commitment to Excellence paper – as they were being acknowledged for what university or college they’d chosen to attend.

Some are staying close – some are moving further away from home – even out of state.

This academic signing mirrors what many of you have seen when student-athletes ink their way to the collegiate level.

“I think it gives everyone a great opportunity to be recognized for everything they’ve accomplished and it’s just like a confidence booster and lets us realize that college is coming up and it’s just another milestone in our life,” said Sydney Schibi, Parsons High School Senior, Heading to Pitt State.

“It’s definitely a way for all students to know that just because they’re not committing to a college for athletics they still have a future with that college and you’re able to actually go in and do whatever you want to do and feel empowered as just a regular student at the college,” said Gyzelle Palmer, Parsons High School Senior, Heading to KU.

A total of 66 seniors signed and were celebrated today.
