Newton warns of door-to-door scams

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Residents in Newton and North Newton are being warned of tree and roofing contractors going door to door.

The Newton Police Department said the contractors often offer service for extremely inflated prices. The department says do not sign contracts with any company that’s not local and do not give out personal information or insurance.

The NPD also said roofing contractors must be licensed to do work in Newton. Tree contractors do not, but anyone making door-to-door sales needs a peddler’s license.
