1-year-old found after being abducted in car, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have located a one-year-old child after he was abducted in a car theft on Getwell Road Tuesday morning.

MPD says the vehicle and the child were found near Outland Road and Cromwell Avenue, two miles from the gas station. The suspect is still at large.

The mother told officers that her Audi was taken from a gas station in the area of Getwell and Raines a little after 7 a.m. Her 1-year-old Daricus Wilson Jr. was still in the vehicle.

Police told WREG that the child’s father left the Audi running while pumping gas, at which time the thief hopped in and sped away.

MPD says they are still investigating this incident as they are working to review surveillance cameras from across the area.

Its unclear right now if the child’s father will face any charges or be cited.
