Missouri’s ‘best burger and fries’ served in Clayton, food writers say
CLAYTON, Mo. – Burgers and fries come together for one of the biggest food combos in American culture. The best burger and fries in Missouri? Food writers say you’ll find it in St. Louis suburb Clayton.
A research team from LoveFood.com recently compiled a list of the best combos of burgers and fries in every state. Their choices were based on reviews, awards and accolades, plus the first-hand experience of their food-writing team.
According to LoveFood.com, the best burger and fries in Missouri are served at a Clayton restaurant called 5 Star Burgers.
Just a few miles west of St. Louis, 5 Star Burgers opened in 2012 and sits at 8125 Maryland Avenue.
The restaurant prides itself on “fat, juicy, grilled-to-order burgers” and using “meats [that] are ground fresh daily,” according to its website. In addition to their signature beef burgers, workers also serve turkey, bison, and veggie burgers.

The 5 Star Burgers website says USA Today has also previously recognized it as “one of the 50 best burgers in the United States.”
LoveFood.com gives the following review for 5 Star Burgers:
“There’s no wrong order at 5 Star Burgers, because everything is delicious. From beef patties with all sorts of toppings to veggie, turkey, and even bison burgers, the choice is abundant. The fries, made with Idaho potatoes, are wonderful too. However, it’s the green chili cheeseburger that really stands out, with a patty topped with pepper Jack cheese, green chili mayo, and crispy New Mexico hatch chilies.”
If you take Google Reviews into account, 5 Star Burgers is pretty true to its name. The restaurant averages a 4.7 rating there, which rounds closest to the non-decimal number five.
