Meijer has withdrawn from Senate race
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Former Congressman Peter Meijer has withdrawn from race for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
He issued a statement late this afternoon on his decision.
News on the withdrawal first appeared on the Michigan Secretary of State’s official candidate listing for federal and state candidate filings show’s Meijer’s name has a notation “is withdrawn.”
U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Lansing) announced in January 2023 she would not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate, setting of a political scramble by both parties to identify candidates for the seat.
