Here are the latest water contact advisories and closures in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — As of Monday, San Diego County officials have issued nine advisories and three closures to the region’s beaches, according to the county’s beach and bay water quality program.

The following water contact advisories have been issued by the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality due to bacteria levels that exceed health standards. People are advised to avoid being in contact with water in these areas.

In addition, three closures remain in place — the Imperial Beach shoreline from the south end of Seacoast Drive through Carnation Avenue, the Tijuana Slough shoreline from the U.S.-Mexico border, including Border Field State Park and the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, and the Silver Strand shoreline from north Carnation to south of Avenida Lunar.

Earlier this month, San Diego County Public Health Services launched a new website to provide San Diegans with information regarding possible illnesses caused from raw sewage contaminating the South Bay.

The county began monitoring reports of gastrointestinal illness last August. Meanwhile, the cities of Imperial Beach and San Diego have issued ongoing states of local emergency, and the county declared a public health crisis due to the water pollution crisis in the Tijuana River Valley.
