Julia Louis-Dreyfus shares video from emotional return to 'Veep' after cancer battle: 'I'm very grateful'

Selina Meyer is back! Julia Louis-Dreyfus returned to work on Veep, nearly one year after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 57-year-old actress shared an Instagram video on Thursday of a brief thank-you speech she gave the cast and crew before cameras started rolling on Season 7. “I really appreciate everyone coming back and working it out to come back. I’m very grateful. Thank you very much,” Louis-Dreyfus said in the Instagram video below. “Love you guys! Season 7!”

The Emmy winner returned to work earlier this month after taking a one-year hiatus.

Louis-Dreyfus disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis in September 2017, just days after she won her sixth consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for Veep.

“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” she shared on Instagram. “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

Production on the show was halted as she underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy. The Seinfeld star documented her journey on social media and, as usual, tried to keep it lighthearted.

In January, Louis-Dreyfus shared a video that her sons, Henry and Charlie, made for her to celebrate her final day of chemo. In the video, the two brothers are seen dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”

Veep hasn’t aired a new episode since June 2017. The hit HBO show will return for its final season in 2019.
