Deputies: Moped driver killed in Berrien Co. crash

BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say the driver of a moped was killed in a crash in Berrien County.

It happened around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday in Bainbridge Township, at the intersection of Territorial Road and Bainbridge Center Road, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say a 44-year-old Eaton County man was driving a moped south on Bainbridge Center Road and didn’t stop at a stop sign.

The moped was then hit by an eastbound Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 47-year-old Benton Harbor woman, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say the driver of the moped died on scene. The Chevy’s driver and passenger were not hurt.

The Eaton County man was not wearing a helmet, according to the sheriff’s office. It’s not clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Deputies continue to investigate.
