Cops hunting for subway rider who slapped two women at Brooklyn stations

Cops are hunting a subway slapper who attacked two women in unprovoked attacks at Brooklyn train stations during a crazed, two-day spree, police said Friday.

The stranger, who sported a baseball cap and gray hooded sweatshirt during one of the assaults, began his spree at the Atlantic Ave. subway station at 6:50 a.m. on May 16, said police.

The attacker was hanging by the entrance when he stepped up and slapped a 49-year-old woman who had just entered the station’s mezzanine level, cops said. The woman was wearing headphones and did not notice the man until he hit her on the side of her head.

The woman fell to the floor from the impact, suffering a small cut to her ear from the headphones being ripped from her head in the attack.

The suspect ran off without saying a word, cops said. The woman refused medical attention at the scene.

About 28 hours later, the man attacked again, this time at the Halsey St. L train subway stop near Wyckoff St. in Brownsville, police said.

He crept up and slapped a 67-year-old woman just entering the mezzanine about 10:30 a.m. on May 17, police said.

The woman was knocked down by the surprise attack and scraped her right knee.

She, too, refused medical attention, cops said.

The back-to-back transit attacks continue an ongoing trend where strangers are being randomly assaulted across the city.

Cops on Friday released surveillance images of the assailant in hopes that someone recognizes him.

Anyone with information is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
