Boy, 6, struck by vehicle in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 6-year-old boy was sent to the hospital Saturday evening after he was hit by a vehicle in Pacific Beach, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the child was standing next to his mother while she was unpacking her vehicle along the west curb of 5000 Soledad Road. At that same time, a 75-year-old man was driving a vehicle northbound at a slow rate of speed.

Police said the boy saw his father across the street and ran eastbound across Soledad Road into the path of the driver. The child was struck by the vehicle at that point.

The boy was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a fractured pelvis. Police said his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The Traffic Division responded to the scene and is investigating the collision. Alcohol was determined to not be a factor, according to police.
