18-year-old student suspected of kidnapping, sex assault arrested

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An 18-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a restroom at Mount Miguel High School last week in Spring Valley was arrested, authorities said.

Reyvon English, a Mount Miguel High School student, turned himself in on Thursday at the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station, Lt. Lon Nguyen with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Thursday. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on rape, kidnapping and other charges related to sexual assault, law enforcement confirmed.

On April 11 around 4 p.m., the 15-year-old victim was on campus for an after school program when she was assaulted in a restroom, according to authorities. She reported the alleged act to school staff who then contacted the sheriff’s department.

“The safety of our students is a priority for the Sheriff’s Department. We want to remind students they can always approach our school resource deputies with any concern. They can also call the anonymous Students Speaking Out Hotline at (888) 580-8477,” Nguyen said.

The sheriff’s department will not release identifying information on minor victims and victims of sex crimes, per the agency’s policy.

Deputies conducted extra patrols after the incident.
