Sarah Ferguson Speaks Out on Kate Middleton's Cancer Diagnosis Amid Own Battle

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and ex-wife to Prince Andrew, shared her thoughts on Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis as she deals with her second cancer in a year.

Ferguson wrote an eloquent and kind message about the princess on Instagram after she announced she had cancer on March 22.

"All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment," she wrote. "I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome."

Ferguson continued: "As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis."

Considering the princess' influence and reach, Ferguson noted the "tremendous amount of good" Kate's open statement about her health will do to spread awareness about cancer. She concluded by sharing her hope that Kate will "now be given the time, space and privacy to heal."

Ferguson added in the caption, "Well wishes to King Charles, Princess Kate and your good self, our thoughts and love go out to you all at this worrying time." King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer not long after Kate had her abdominal surgery in late January.

Before announcing her cancer diagnosis last week, Kate was hounded by the media and the public about why she remained out of the spotlight. The situation got more intense after the edited Mother's Day photo scandal, leading many to accuse the palace of faking the video of Kate at the Windsor Farm Shop that came out not long afterward.

Like Kate, Ferguson was recently diagnosed with cancer. The 64-year-old revealed that she had breast cancer last year, before declaring on New Year's Eve that she "beat" it.

But then in January 2024, she said that her doctor found a spot that turned out to be a skin cancer called malignant melanoma. A friend reportedly told People recently that Ferguson's skin cancer has not spread, and she will continue to have checkups going forward.
