Samuel L. Jackson is on the trail of a deranged serial killer in his latest film, Damaged.

The thriller follows Jackson’s Chicago police detective after he receives a report that a spate of killings in Scotland match those of unsolved murders in The Windy City.

Those Chicago murders, which date back nine years, features one woman dear to Jackson’s heart: his girlfriend. That’s why he’s determined to rack up the air miles and crack the case.

Jackson’s not alone, though. Overseen by Scottish chief superintendent Kessler, he’s assigned Lawson (Vincent Cassel) to work alongside him.

They look to form a formidable team against John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral), a religious fanatic with a murderous glint in his eye.

The trailer also shows off foot chases through Scottish backstreets, shootouts in front of suspicious cabins in the wood, and Jackson’s troubled detective necking tiny bottles of alcohol. It's a far cry from where we last saw him as Nick Fury in The Marvels. Speaking of which, Marvel won’t tell you how much The Marvels is making.

The official description reads: “How do you catch a brilliant monster? When a sadistic murderer surfaces in Scotland, terrified local authorities call on a Chicago police detective who investigated a killing spree with the same horrific pattern five years earlier.”

Damaged releases in theaters and on digital April 12, 2024.
