Marvel Studios is going to stop reporting on The Marvels’ box office numbers, and that might be a wise move.

Since releasing in November, The Marvels has been a historic flop. It failed to generate $200 million worldwide - which is less than it cost to make - and it’s the worst-performing film since Marvel’s shared universe began 15 years ago.

Disney, who owns Marvel, released a statement to the press on Sunday, as reported by Variety: “With The Marvels box office now winding down, we will stop weekend reporting of international/global grosses on this title.”

You can’t blame the move, seeing as The Marvels is the lowest-grossing Marvel film released in a decade and a half.

Still, the film deserves better. It’s got a better critical score at 61% than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (46%), and features some standout characters and incredible set-pieces.

Why not ask Iman Vellani? Not only is she one of the brightest spots of The Marvels, but the Ms. Marvel actress also explains how to save Marvel.

Disney will be hoping it gets a larger audience when The Marvels releases on Disney+ later this year. Maybe then they’ll tell us the viewing figures.
