Robert Irwin

Following his breakup with Rorie Buckey in February, Robert Irwin is once again one of the most eligible young bachelors—but would he ever go on The Bachelor?

During a recent interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle, the 20-year-old animal conservationist shared whether he would ever consider appearing on the dating competition series. Well, sort of. Irwin and his I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here Australia co-host, Julia Morris, mostly danced around the topic. But it was highly entertaining.

As Irwin laughed at the question, Morris interjected, "You be the Bachelor, I'm going to go on as a bachelorette like some weird old creepy nightmare."

"Yeah...right," a still-laughing Irwin replied, "That sounds perfect."

"But we can't go on a date," Morris stipulated. "I got myself into the worst comedy cul-de-sac here. This is what it's called in the comedy business."

The conversation continued to (amusingly) go off-topic without Irwin sharing much on the prospect of becoming the next Bachelor. It was clear, however, that a reality dating show is likely not in his near future.

Of course, part of Irwin's hesitation could be due to his recent breakup. The son of Terri Irwin and the late Steve Irwin announced his split with his girlfriend of one year on Feb. 16.

“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” he and Buckey wrote in a joint statement shared via their Instagram Stories. “We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths."

Who knows? Perhaps after some time and space, Irwin might reconsider and give The Bachelor a try!
