Robert Irwin

Robert Irwin is incredibly active on social media, which means followers tend to form attachments to the creatures featured in his updates. Unfortunately, the animal conservationist recently had a sad update to share.

On Friday, Feb. 23, Irwin—the son of Terri Irwin and the late Steve Irwin—took to TikTok with a video about a chicken.

"Very sad news to report," he began. "Unfortunately, our gorgeous little chicken, Nacho, who I know you all fell in love with and we loved so much, sadly passed away. She was a beautiful old chook with a lot of great years, and we're really, really, really sad to lose her."

Irwin paired his disappointing news with a positive update. "But, we wanted to announce that we do have a few new members of the Irwin chicken family I'm going to introduce to you for the very first time," he explained.

Irwin proceeded to show off two new chickens. "So this one here is Waffles, the very confident one," he shared. "Loves to fly, as you can see."

The 20-year-old continued, "And this little guy here, Mochi, well, she's a little bit more mild mannered."

A third chicken named Cindy "prefers to stay out of the public eye" and was not shown on camera. "That's okay. That's alright—you're good, Cindy," he reassured her.

In the comments, TikTok users reacted to the news of Nacho's death and the introductions of the Irwin family's new chickens.

"NOT NACHO 😭," one person commented, while another wrote, "I hope when I pass away in the very far future I'm described as a beautiful old chook who lives a lot of great years."

Meanwhile, another TikToker declared, "Robert Irwin respects boundaries more than most parents on this app."

"Cindy is so ✨ mysterious ✨," someone else commented, while other person wrote, "I freakin love chickens 🐔  RIP Nacho. Hello Mochi and Waffles 🥳."

Yet another TikTok user summed it up perfectly, writing, "🙏 Nacho is at your dads zoo in heaven now.🥰😇"
