Bindi Irwin Honors Late Dad Steve Irwin on His Birthday

Bindi Irwin remembered her late father Steve Irwin on his would-be birthday with a short and sweet tribute.

The 25-year-old Australian TV personality took to her Instagram page with a series of throwback photos of her with her father, as well as some group shots which included her mom Terri and her brother Robert.

"Happy Birthday, Dad," she simply captioned the nine photos. "Your legacy will live on forever."

Among those celebrating Steve in the comments was his widow Terri, who sweetly replied, "Steve’s love for you will live on forever too. ❤."

Terri also shared her own tribute, which included a fan-made compilation video of Steve along with the caption: "Happy Birthday! Missing my Action Man. ❤️."

For those who may not remember, the doting father and TV personality suddenly passed away after a fatal encounter with a sting ray while snorkeling on Sept. 4, 2006. He was 44 at the time.

Since his tragic death, his family has remained dedicated to Steve's passion for wildlife and continued his efforts of "conservation through education" with their work at the Australia Zoo.

While Bindi has successfully followed in her famed father's conservationist footsteps last year, she opened up about navigating the painful loss of her father.

In June 2023, she told E! News that celebrating her dad and focusing on happier times is one way she deals with the grief.

"When you lose someone it really is like losing a piece of your heart," she said.

"If you can remember, reminisce on those really good times," she explained, "and choose to celebrate someone's life, I feel like that really helps."
