Steve Irwin's legacy lives on thanks to his children, Bindi, 24, and Robert, 19.

And on Father's Day, Bindi opened up about how she and her brother have powered through the "really, really difficult" loss of their father, who died in 2006 after being fatally stung by a stingray.

Bindi, who has followed in her famed father's conservationist footsteps, told E! News, "When you lose someone it really is like losing a piece of your heart."

And while these moments can sometimes feel like "it's all too hard," she navigates this hardship by focusing on happier times. "If you can remember, reminisce on those really good times," she explained, "and choose to celebrates someone's life, I feel like that really helps."

As she continued, Bindi revealed that she and her family "have really worked on it over the years to find the joy in every day and to chose to revel in the time we had with dad."

Bindi—who is now a mother in her own right, welcoming daughter Grace in 2021—noted that the Irwins "try to remember him every day in little ways."

Her brother Robert recently proved this to be true, as, earlier in June, he shared a surprising connection he had with Steve. Specifically, Robert revealed that he was recently bitten by the same type of snake that once snapped at his late father.

He wrote alongside a side-by-side comparison, "Déjà vu. Dad and me getting bitten by the same species of snake (carpet python) decades apart. I found this python on the side of a road, but as you can see, sometimes snake rescues don’t quite go to plan."

Crikey!
