About the shoes

The Stuart Weitzman Merinda heel features a 4-inch curved stiletto heel. The footwear includes a wraparound strap and ankle closure as well as an almond-shaped toe bed. First introduced in 2019, the Merinda heel presented a slightly new version of a Weitzman staple.

The Stuart Weitzman Nudist heel, introduced in 2013, became a wardrobe standard shortly after release. That shoe featured a barely-there silhouette, including only a toe strap that lengthened the leg. It also allowed for the emphasis to be placed on the rest of the look. The Merinda, when introduced, offered a new version of this technique. The shoe is similarly discrete, save its thin ankle strap and toe strap.

Stuart Weitzman: A Designer’s Legacy

Stuart Weitzman started working for his father, who had started the Mr. Seymour shoe factory. Weitzman released his first designs with the company before starting a sub-brand within the label after his father’s death called Stuart Weitzman for Mr. Seymour. A pair of heels he designed under that sub-label were worn by Aretha Franklin to the American Music Awards in 1983.

After striking out on his own as Stuart Weitzman, the designer has combined high-profile marketing, such as million-dollar heels on the red carpet, with consumer-based products like the covetable Nudist, Merinda, and Lowland styles, to build a massive business.
