Whether she's wowing on the red carpet in a lace-up naked dress, sitting front row at fashion week in the coolest metal bustier peplum gown, or channelling Britney Spears in a 2024 update of *that* iconic denim dress, Maya Jama is never not on trend. So it was no surprise to see the Love Island presenter in a typically stylish ensemble at The National Portrait Gallery's Portrait Gala in London last night [19 March 2024].

Maya arrived at the art museum wearing a Vivienne Westwood design featuring an asymmetric off-the-shoulder cowl neck. The dress nipped in at the waist, before flaring out with exaggerated volume over her hips, returning to a fitted silhouette at the midi-length hem. The grey silk fabric was decorated with a faint checked pattern.

Maya finished the look with red satin strappy heeled sandals and a three-strand pearl necklace.

The ensemble is a more demure and ladylike aesthetic than we're used to seeing from Maya, emphasised by the addition of the classic and feminine accessory but it's no surprise to see her repping one of this season's biggest jewellery trends.

Pearls were spotted all over the SS24 runways. Dior gave hoop earrings a geometric update offset with pearl adornments, Versace opted for oversized pearl cluster studs and Givenchy paired pearls with diamonds to create edgy earcuffs with a glam-rock vibe.

All to say, we're adding plenty of pearl trinkets to our jewellery boxes. And if you want to follow suit, shop our top pearl pieces from some of our fave jewellery brands now:

Whether you opt for a classic Queen Elizabeth-esque necklace or offset the delicate gemstones with a chunky gold chain, you can't go wrong. Pearls are timeless for a reason, ya know.
