I've used this $13 vitamin C serum for 2 years to keep my rosacea in check — get it for almost 50% off

The gentle formula, with aloe and hyaluronic acid, has also helped banish redness and dark spots.

I used to wear full-coverage foundation every day, often touching it up or even reapplying in the office bathroom. But when the pandemic hit, I had nowhere to go — and I put all my focus on skin care. In time, I had fewer breakouts, reduced irritation and less reason to cover my skin.

Of course, now I spend more money on toners, serums and moisturizers than I'd like to admit, and I'm always testing new products. But one I've used regularly for the last two years, Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum, has calmed my rosacea, reduced dark spots and evened out my skin tone. Grab it while it's nearly 50% off at Amazon.

The serum contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and aloe to hydrate skin and make it feel silky.

💰 Why is this a good deal?

I discovered this serum at Whole Foods in the clean skin-care aisle, where it was $25. However, I recently discovered it on Amazon, where it's often marked down to less than $15. Right now, it's 46% off, making it just over $13. Compared to similar vitamin C products you'd find at Sephora for $50 or more, it's a great deal.

🤔 Why do I need this?

Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which means it can help fight toxins that come in contact with your skin. Experts say that with regular use, it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, prevent sun damage, decrease dark spots and help get rid of acne — there's a slew of benefits.

Other vitamin C products I've used in the past have been a little too strong for my sensitive skin, but this serum is gentle. It contains sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a form of Vitamin C that is less potent and arguably less powerful than other variations. There's also hyaluronic acid, which helps skin retain moisture, and aloe to moisturize and soothe dry skin. The formula isn't sticky at all — it actually feels good on your skin. I like to layer mine over a hydrating toner and under my moisturizer and SPF.

When I use Derma E consistently, I always get compliments on my skin. I no longer feel like I need to wear foundation — just a light tinted moisturizer does the trick. I especially like to use it when my rosacea comes out, which is usually in cold, windy winter air or after I've been hanging out in the sun too long.

💬 What reviewers say

Derma E also has over 4,900 five-star reviews on Amazon from shoppers who say it's a multitasking skin superhero.

👍 Pros

"My skin is glowing," said one happy customer. "I use this every morning and it helps my skin glow and look hydrated. My mom who is 70 was using this, and I had asked her what she had been using because her skin looked so glowy. I ended up ordering it and I can't believe how much I love it! I have sensitive skin and this does not irritate it whatsoever."

"This stuff is legit! Wow!" wrote another five-star fan. "So far, the age spots around my hairline are starting to fade, and the spot on my nose is too. But the most dramatic change in my skin is that [the] clogged pores on my nose have disappeared! Completely! And overall, my complexion is brighter and whatever lines I had are pretty much gone."

"I'm 51 and I think I'm on my fourth bottle," said another reviewer. "The size of the bottle is a fantastic value, and the serum is wonderful. I use it on my chest, neck and face at least once a day. It is the perfect addition to use under a moisturizer or sunscreen."

Some shoppers agreed that it's great for calming down redness: "I love this product!" wrote one. "I have rosacea and nothing works when I have bad flare-ups. I use this every night and by morning, I wake up to clear smooth skin with most of the redness gone!"

👎 Cons

Of course, everyone's skin is different: "Not good, not bad," wrote a shopper. "The smell of the product is sweet and citrusy, not strong, but great packaging, and love the gel texture. But I can't say I've seen any improvement in my skin. I have about two months of using it."

One thing to note: For best results, you shouldn't layer vitamin C with retinols, AHAs, BHAs, copper peptides or benzoyl peroxide. These chemicals can reduce its efficacy or, in some cases, cause irritation. Also, pay attention to the use-by date. After a while, vitamin C can oxidize or become unstable, making it less effective. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat for the same reason.

This "clean" serum is also 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and it doesn't contain parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum, lanolin, gluten, soy or GMOs.
