H-E-B to give out free Earth Day tote bags on holiday

On Earth Day, Monday, Texas' favorite grocery store will give away 265,000 free reusable bags to customers across the Lone Star State.

Patrons who visit any H-E-B, Central Market, Joe V's Smart Shop and Mi Tienda are eligible to receive a complimentary Earth Day tote bag — a tradition by the company that started in 2008.

Line-up starts at 1 p.m. and totes are first come, first serve while supplies last.

This year's bad features a design resembling a postcard from Texas featuring the Big Bend Ranch Texas State Park.

Not only is Earth Day celebrated in April, but the entire 30 days are known as Earth Month.

H-E-B launched its annual School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge earlier this year where 5,000,000 plastic bags were collected from 675 Texas schools, a 1,000,000 increase compared to 2023.

Two schools in Corpus Christi, Windsor Park Elementary and Flour Bluff Primary, were two of the three winners in the Gulf Coast region and received H-E-B gift cards as prizes.
