It's true that Gigi Hadid has rocked some fun nail art in the past. In 2016, she wore a $2000 manicure to the Met Gala, outfitting her fingernails in pure chrome with a cluster of crystals on the underside. Last fall, she even let her daugher, Khai, take a stab at her pedicure; the 3-year-old smartly decided on "every color of the rainbow" as her shade du jour.

Still, the model's signature move is an undone look. Which is to say... it feels like she never really does her nails? So, it was a major surprise when the she recently popped up with some funky nail art.

On March 22, Hadid ran errands in New York wearing a bright red manicure with dark burgundy French tips. It's a far cry from the recently popular "naked" French manicure (which honestly feels more her speed), but a fun look nonetheless—especially coming from someone who usually takes it easy with beauty. While we're not sure who the brains behind the look is, something tells me it's celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri, aka @nailsbymei, who is currently working in the city. Hadid has utilized the professional's skillset in the past, even going for a similar colorblocked French design in April 2021.

Almond-shaped and medium in length, all 10 of Hadid's fingers were painted the same bold, warm color combo, which she also played into with bright red matte lipstick. The rest of her look was simple as can be; her fresh bob was middle-parted and tucked behind her ears and she went with the classic white tee + denim + leather jacket combo for her outfit.

The next day, while shopping at Whole Foods, the Guest In Residence founder decided to add some black leather gloves to her look. Do I miss the mani? Of course! But I'm choosing to be positive and believe we're at the beginning of a Hadid nail art renaissance. Just look at Spring 2024's biggest nail art trends: there's color to come.
