Every Upcoming Marvel Game In Development

Marvel’s Blade Announcement Trailer - The Game Awards 2023 - YouTube - 0-1-13

Marvel is about to ramp up its video game production slate, with almost a dozen games based on its superheroes currently in development. With the MCU currently hitting roadblocks in its grand plan for Avengers: Secret Wars and whatever Kang Dynasty evolves into, there’s going to be plenty of Marvel content for gamers in the years to come that keep us busy.

This list will only include games that have been officially confirmed to be in the works, which means we are ignoring any unsubstantiated rumors or leaks.

Here is every Marvel video game in development for PC and consoles.

Marvel’s Blade

Bethesda

Bethesda

Announced during this year’s The Game Awards, Marvel's Blade is being developed by Arkane’s Lyon studio, the minds behind Prey, Dishonored, and Deathloop. The announcement trailer shows the Daywalker in a brand new, original story set in Paris. The company hasn’t announced what platforms the game will be released on, but common sense (and an acquisition worth $7.5 billion) suggests that it will be an Xbox-exclusive game. But then again, stranger things have happened, and in a world where Xbox has a significantly smaller portion of the market to itself, releasing Blade on PlayStation would make more sense.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Sony

Sony

Insomniac Games shocked everyone with the announcement of a new Wolverine game in development for PS5 almost two years ago. Now, Insomniac's unfortunate data hack has pointed to the game releasing sometime in the next couple of years, which gives Insomniac plenty of time to cook up a new story for Logan. Insomniac has confirmed that the game takes place in the same universe as its Spider-Man games, so it looks like Wolverine will be used as a launching pad to herald the arrival of a stand-alone X-Men game.

Marvel’s Iron Man (Untitled)

EA / Marvel

EA / Marvel

EA-owned Motive Studio, the developer behind 2023’s Dead Space remake, is working on a new Iron Man game. Not much is known about the game except that it will be a single-player adventure with an original story, built in Unreal Engine 5. The game’s development is being led by Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on the highly underrated Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Motive has proved that they can handle third-person atmospheric storytelling with Dead Space, as well as dogfights in space with Star Wars Squadrons. Combining those skills for an Iron Man game does sound exciting, but we might have to wait a long time for the first gameplay reveal as the developer is still hiring key roles for the title.

Captain America/Black Panther Game (Skydance New Media)

Skydance New Media

Skydance New Media

First of all, no that’s not the official title. Second, the project is being overseen by Amy Hennig, a creative director on the Uncharted games, so there’s evidence to suggest that the game will be quite awesome in the narrative department. The new game will feature both heroes as playable characters in a World War 2-era Paris, along with two members of the Howling Commandos. Azzuri will be the Black Panther of the era. We don’t know when the game will be released, and the only footage we have is from a teaser trailer that reveals more about the concept of the game rather than its mechanics.

Marvel’s Black Panther (Untitled)

EA/Cliffhanger Games

EA/Cliffhanger Games

After tasting success with single-player games from its various studios, EA seems to be all-in on Marvel. Not only is the company financing an Iron Man game, but we’re also getting a stand-alone Black Panther game from Cliffhanger Games, a new studio. Details are scarce, but we know that Black Panther will be a single-player, third-person game. The game is still early in development, but with talented developers with credits including Middle Earth, Halo Infinite, God of War, and the Call of Duty games, we may get a proper Black Panther game that hopefully reaches the same heights of success as the film franchise.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

Insomniac Games

Insomniac Games

Technically this one isn’t confirmed, but given the post-credits tease in Spider-Man 2, a third entry in the wall-crawler’s story is all but given. Insomniac has confirmed that going forward, Miles Morales will be the main Spider-Man in their games, which is interesting as the third game will seemingly bring back Otto Octavius partnering with Norman Osborne, aka Green Goblin. Given Insomniac's trajectory and stellar output pacing, don't be surprised to see Spider-Man 3 release before the PS6 comes out. Perhaps this one might get the Miles Morales treatment, bridging the gap between the current generation and the next.

With so many Marvel games in the works, you must be thinking: "What about DC?" Well, the only new DC game that we know of right now is Monolith's Wonder Woman, although WB Games is working on more games set in James Gunn's DCU. Until then, Marvel fans will be feasting on the games on this list for years to come, and who knows what other surprises lie in store.
