‘Air Max’ Searches on eBay Spikes Ahead of Air Max Day — These Are the Sneakers People Were Looking For

The annual celebration of all things Nike Air Max, known to sneakerheads everywhere as Air Max Day, is here. However, searches for the sneakers ramped up on eBay well before the March 26 date.

According to eBay, in March — specifically March 1-13 — users searched for “Air Max” roughly 37 times a minute globally. In terms of silhouettes, eBay stated the top-searched Nike Air Max styles on the platform globally are the Nike Air Max 90, the Nike Air Max 1 and the Nike Air Max 95.

Ahead of Air Max Day, Nike revealed its newest look in the franchise, the Air Max Dn, which released on Tuesday. Reggie Hunter, product director for Nike Lifestyle Footwear, told FN that Nike looking to offer motion fluidness under the foot with the Air Max Dn. The answer to the problem was Dynamic Air, a dual-chamber, four-tubed unit designed for comfort, a smooth stride and “max bounce.”

According to eBay, on March 12 — which was the day Nike shock-dropped the Nike Air Max Dn on the Snkrs app — searches for “Nike Air Max Dn” increased 520 percent on the platform globally.

Aside from the release of the Air Max Dn, Nike has been busy pushing the Air Max franchise as of late. For instance, it shock-dropped the Air Max 1 ’86 “Royal and Volt” via the Snkrs app on Tuesday, which retailed for $150. Nike also released the Air Max 1 ’86 “Royal Blue” on Tuesday, which retailed for $150. And on April 4, Nike will release an Atlanta-inspired Air Max 95 via Snkrs, retailing for $185. The shoe will also be sold at four Atlanta sneaker boutiques: A Ma Maniére, Wish ATL, Walter’s and Soleplay.
