Sure, when you ask people under 40 to name a hot brand of vehicle, “Buick” doesn’t usually rank in the top five, or 10, or 30. Despite a few strong years of new models, it’s still seen in the United States as a bit stodgy, the ride for the crowd far closer to buying their last car than their first.

Yet mechanically speaking, Buicks are as modern as ever. And given its popularity in China, which drove Buick to its third record year of global sales, the brand has a fairly bright future. So why shouldn’t it consider what a 400-hp Buick coupe could look like in the 21st century?
