Renault’s answer to Lancia: Flickr photo of the day

How often do you see a mid-engined hatchback? Not very, is the answer. That's one of the many reasons I love the Renault 5 Turbo II, pictured here by Denis. Growing up in the UK, I yearned for cars that became famous on rally stages during the '80s and '90s, cars like the Lancia Stratus and Delta Integrale, as well a the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and Toyota Celica. The 5 Turbo, however, primarily caught my attention in the years following its production; it was regularly hooned around British streets by angry youths with either good credit or silly parents. As a teen, it was beyond cool. And the car that followed it, the Renault Clio V6 Renault Sport, was equally awesome. I mean, a mid-engined, wide-body hatchback? How can you NOT love it?
