Up Close and Personal With the Best Pieces from Céline, Dior, and Balenciaga

Everything goes by so fast when you’re at a fashion show so it’s important in our industry to schedule follow-up appointments with the publicists of each brand. (Also known as re-sees.) Yesterday in Paris, I managed to get my hands on some of the most spectacular pieces from Fall/Winter collections. Here are my three faves, and a little backstory behind each.

Céline, Look 29.

The white dress that padded with dare I say down feathers is lined in the most luxurious silk. The weight of the fabric is light, and feels like being wrapped in the most exquisite comforter! Design maverick Phoebe Philo has done it again—making a dress this comfortable and also super chic!

Dior, Look 23.

This Dior top and skirt looks like plastic but is actually leather and bonded with lambskin! The perforation was created by a laser and gives a sense of movement to the pieces. There is a two-tone effect of the both the top and the skirt, but that is just an illusion.

Balenciaga, Look 23.

This coat looked like it was covered in feathers on the runway, but up close it is actually accented in nylon strings that have been knotted together. Each piece was strung by hand, dipped in a darker color, dried and then re-dipped five times to get to the right shade.
