Woman critically injured in Avondale shooting

CHICAGO — A woman was critically injured on Saturday afternoon in a shooting on the city’s Northwest Side.

According to Chicago police, the shooting unfolded just after 1:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, in Avondale.

Officers say the woman was sitting inside a parked car in the area when four men approached. One of the men then pulled out a gun and opened fire on the woman.

Police said the woman was shot in the neck and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities say no arrests have been made.

Authorities did not provide a description of the individuals responsible.
