Wolfeboro driver arrested for DWI after collision with state trooper

May 15—A Wolfeboro driver was arrested for DWI after her SUV collided with a State Police cruiser on Route 28 Wednesday morning.

Diane Alger, 71, was arrested by Wolfeboro police after she told investigators she had consumed alcohol before the crash, which happened shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to a news release.

Officials said Trooper Nathan Cobis from Troop E in Tamworth was driving south on Route 28 in Wolfeboro, and was attempting to stop a vehicle when a Chevrolet SUV pulled out in front of him from Northline Road and the vehicles collided.

Alger was not injured and was taken to Huggins Hospital for a test of her blood alcohol level. Trooper Cobis was taken to the same hospital to be evaluated, officials said.

State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information about it, to contact Sgt. Kempes Corbally at kempes.r.corbally@dos.nh.gov or Troop E dispatch at 603-323-3333.
