Wisconsin man who broke into a probation and parole office to steal vehicle arrested after pursuit

CRANDON, Wis. (WFRV) – A man who stole a vehicle from a northern Wisconsin probation and parole office while breaking into the building was taken into custody after fleeing on foot during a brief pursuit.

According to the Forest County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Crandon Police Department notified deputies of a suspect who reportedly stole a vehicle from the Crandon Probation and Parole Office around 9 p.m. on May 23.

It was later learned that the man had forced his way into the building’s office to get the keys for the vehicle. That vehicle was later pursued by Crandon PD Officers for roughly one mile before the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods near Potawatomi Trail.

Shortly after, deputies responded to the Forest County Potawatomi Emergency Management Building at the intersection of Highway 8 and Bug Lake Road in the town of Lincoln, where deputies noticed signs of a forced entry with alarms going off in the building.

The building was then searched, and no one was found inside.

The male suspect was later spotted walking along Highway 8 near Otter Creek Road in Lincoln. He was subsequently taken into custody, facing multiple felony charges.
