Wednesday starts gloomy with passing showers; clearing out into your Thursday

Wednesday morning looks soggy with scattered showers moving through so don’t forget to pack something to keep yourself dry. By the middle to late morning hours, rain chances will decrease as our cold front moves off to the east. Only stray showers are expected through the afternoon, mostly confined to the mountains, with temps back in the 60s.

Wednesday night sees high pressure build up to our north. This will give us a calm overnight with a few clouds around. With a northern flow in gear, this will make for a frosty night with overnight lows dropping into the 30s.

Thursday morning starts cold but that won’t last long as we see them warm up into the 50s and eventually the middle 60s by the evening. Mostly sunny skies return, especially during the afternoon, as we enjoy a dry spell for our entire Thursday!

Friday starts with mostly clear skies and the morning commute stays dry! The second half of your Friday, however, looks a little gloomier with building cloud cover thanks to a passing warm front. Can’t rule out an isolated shower or two but it doesn’t appear to be a total washout. Afternoon highs on Friday look to reach back into the 60s.

Saturday morning sticks with scattered showers moving through the area. By lunchtime and into the afternoon, we’ll see mainly hit or miss showers at that point with a few breaks expected. The start of the weekend will enjoy a warmup into the 70s.

Our Interactive Radar

Sunday morning will contend with a few clouds, but the morning commute looks to be dry so the trip to church should be an easy one. The rest of your Sunday stays partly cloudy with any rain chances looking to stay outside of southern West Virginia and Virginia. It’s trending to be a dry end to the weekend with temps pushing into the 80s!

Monday starts the new week also on a dry note with our area sandwiched between two systems. Highs pressure looks to be in control for our Monday, giving us partly cloudy skies. Can’t rule out an isolated shower later in the evening but it’s a dry and very warm afternoon as temps climb back into the 80s!

In your extended forecast, Tuesday contends with the chance for a few showers, but we’ll also enjoy some breaks along the way. We are in spring forest fire season in West Virginia – this means don’t burn between 7 AM and 5 PM through May 31st. Low humidity values during the daytime, along with breezier and warmer conditions will at times increase the fire threat, hence the burn ban during most of the daytime. Follow all regulations or be faced with potential consequences, such as fines! In Virginia, the spring fire season continues through April 30th – don’t burn before 4 PM.
