Two inmates overdose after women allegedly smuggled drug into Alleghany Regional Jail

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) says several people are facing charges after a woman allegedly smuggled suspected heroin into the Alleghany Regional Jail, leading to an overdose on May 20.

Around 5:30 p.m., Mickaela Sky Loving was booked into the jail and allegedly hid heroin inside her body. Deputies said Loving was able to give the drugs to other inmates in the female pod.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, staff were delivering evening meals when they learned two inmates were overdosing in the shower area. Deputies immediately administered Narcan and both inmates were revived.

However, as the investigation developed, authorities obtained a search warrant for a home in Covington’s 2000 block of Mallo Road.

During the search, deputies seized 28 grams of methamphetamine, Oxycodone, Xanaparaphernalia, digital scales, and guns.
