Two dead after Franklin County shooting

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Two people are dead after a shooting happened at a home in Franklin County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police say they were dispatched to the home on Lenwood Park in Southampton Township for a report of a domestic altercation with shots fired.

According to police, when troopers arrived they attempted to contact those inside the residence but did not receive a response.

After multiple attempts, the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called. When SERT members entered the residence, they found a deceased elderly man and woman with gun shot wounds.

The official cause of death is pending autopsy, but State Police say they are investigating it as a homicide-suicide.

Police say there is no danger to the public.

Police have not yet released the identities of the man or the woman pending notification of next-of-kin.
