Train catches fire near I-25 in Douglas County

DENVER (KDVR) — A train was on fire Wednesday afternoon along Interstate 25 in Douglas County, stopping traffic on nearby Spruce Mountain Road.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted about the fire at 6:08 p.m.

SkyFOX flew over the scene just before 7 p.m. and the coal train was moving again, with no fire evident.

First responders had stopped traffic on Spruce Mountain Road from I-25 and Upper Lake Gulch Road, according to the sheriff’s office. The train was blocking crossings on the west side of I-25 northbound to Tomah Road.

Along with the sheriff’s office, fire officials from Larkspur, Castle Rock and Jackson 105 were on the scene.
