Tip leads to arrest of Arizona fugitive in Marion County, deputies say

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A fugitive wanted out of Arizona was arrested Tuesday in Marion County, authorities said.

A tip led to the arrest of 44-year-old Carl R. Ottmann. Deputies said he was apprehended near the Mullins area of Marion County.

Ottmann is wanted out of Arizona for failure to appear on dangerous drug charges and failure to register as a sex offender, deputies said.

Ottmann will be held at the Marion County Detention Center as he awaits extradition to Arizona. Ottman was not charged with any crimes in Marion County, according to deputies.

Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace said Ottmann’s arrest is an example of community participation.

“If you see something, say something,” Wallace said. “A concerned citizen followed their instincts and called us about this man, now a wanted fugitive is off the streets. It takes all of us to make Marion County safe.”
