SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — US Senator Ted Cruz attended fundraisers and met with supporters in San Angelo on Thursday, March 28th.

One of Cruz’s stops included a visit with supporters at The Grind Coffee and Cafe in downtown San Angelo. Cruz talked about his work sponsoring legislation to advance the Ports to Plains Corridor — Interstate 27 — to designate the section through Texas as a future interstate route.

“Both of those are going to help bring billions of dollars of economic activity to West Texas. That’s going to help farmers here. That’s going to help ranchers here. That’s going to help oil and gas producers; small businesses” said Cruz.

Incumbent Senator Cruz is facing Democratic challenger Colin Allred in the November general election. Allred is a congressman from Dallas and former NFL football player.
