LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansans who have not thought about their taxes may wish to do so in light of the April 15 tax day being two weeks out.

The latest weekly report from the Department of Finance and Administration shows the state has already processed 798,233 tax claims. At the same time a year ago, 780,997 returns had been processed.

Department of Finance and Administration Scott Harding said that of those 2024 returns to date, 525,579 have led to refunds being issued. Last year, at this time, 502,784 refunds were made.

Hardin said that of the nearly 800,000 returns, 769,368 were submitted online, while 28,855 were hard copies mailed to the DFA. Online filing remains the fastest way to get a claim processed, he said.

Where’s my refund? These tax credits might be delaying it

Hardin speaks in millions when talking about tax returns.

“Since we opened filing season January 29, taxpayers have received approximately $262 million in refunds,” Hardin said. “Based on the 1.4 million returns processed in 2023, we know we are more than halfway there with 798,223 refunds processed to date this year. The next two weeks will be a busy time for both DFA and taxpayers as we approach April 15.”
